Habitat for Humanity of Forsyth County partnered with Steele Group Architects to create a new, vibrant Habitat ReStore to attract more business. The ReStore is a 22,000 sq. ft. retail space where donated furniture, electronics and other household items are sold to support the organization’s affordable housing efforts. Steele Group worked directly with Habitat all the way through site due diligence and schematic building design phases; then switched to a design-build delivery method to conserve client costs.
The playful ornamentation of the building emphasizes the many relationships that make Habitat of Forsyth successful while keeping the structure economical to build and operate. Elements from the existing facility were repurposed in the new design and the majority of finish materials were donated or selected from existing ReStore inventory.
